It was wonderful to be at Bevis Marks Synagogue in the City of London last night and hear and capture some great moments about how its planned multi-million pound religious, educational and cultural centre will be developed with support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
It was also exciting to hear that Prince Charles will be heading up the conservation appeal.
Bevis Marks has a special place for the Sephardi Jewish community and indeed the wider Jewish community.
Bevis Marks also has a very special and personal connection to me.
As some of you may know, my father, Halfon Benarroch served the community as Chazzan for over 50 years, so, I grew up in this historical landmark. It was my playground, Bevis Marks is literally part of my DNA.
This is a fabulous opportunity that will reach out beyond the Jewish community and outreach across London, the UK and globally and showcase and celebrate the rich history of Bevis Marks and it’s exciting future.
