Behind the scenes at 2020 Vision Project shoot

As some of you may know, I am contributing to the 2020 Vision Project where together with 100 other photographers across the UK we are volunteering our photography time to produce beautiful portraiture of NHS healthcare professionals to be actioned after the Covid-19 pandemic through an exhibition and book being planned.

I’m delighted to share a behind the scenes preview of a shoot I did with Debra.

I decided to really find out about the person who is behind the mask by photographing the tribute nominees enjoying their ‘me time’ activity.

Debra enjoys baking Challah, (a traditional bread for the Jewish Sabbath) and Debra has the tradition of baking it with children she has delivered.

This dough was being prepared to share the shaping process via Zoom, with a girl Debra delivered 12 years ago.

Debra is a senior midwife for 40 years, at UCLH in London and as she was getting ready for retirement and working on the frontline as Covid-19 hit London, she contracted it. Now recovered, Debra is looking forward to retirement but is still helping and training her colleagues in the NHS.

Thank you to my daughter for accompanying and taking these shots on her phone. Daughter is now using the photo quality as evidence she needs a new phone!
